Fluffy recently had puppies - 6 of them...all very very very cute. Thank goodness they are all gone to good homes - because I was becoming attached to them...naming them - noticing their different personalities.
So the last 2 left on Monday. For this past week - Fluffy has been spending her days in the outside kennel while we are at work and some nights as Gordy is shampooing carpets...his favorite past - time...truly.
The kennel is a former corral - with sheep fence added after 'Houdini Coheed' lived here. But today - it was a bad deal.
The weather was WONDERFUL today. I know that no one wanted to be inside for a moment - we decided to go to Lakeside after work and eat somewhere that served supper outside. I stopped at home - Kimmie changed her pants, Joe his shirt, I loaded Lady as I thought we might stop at the lake and took garbage out of the truck - to the garbage cans by the kennel. I saw Fluffy - said hi to her and left.
We had a wonderful supper at Tamarack - by Stoner Creek - brought back old memories of a 'old slower Lakeside.' Ben and Kimmie played by the creek - supper and dessert..then a lazy ride home.
At home - I stop in to see Jesse in 'the little house' and tell Kimmie to let Fluffy out of the kennel. Fluffy runs to me - in the little house - we shoo her outside - the door is shut - Kimmie is outside and has a horrified look on her face. She says that Fluffy has blood around her neck. I pick her up - her neck is sliced wide open - it was terrible terrible terrible. It was a 4 - 5 inch cut - very deep into her neck. I show Gordy - take her in the house - attempt to call my friend Kathy - who knows the new Lakeside vet - only I can't dial the phone - first I call the school - then I miss numbers - finally I dial her number right - it was nightmarish. Get the number for the vet - she's in Eureka and asks me questions regarding Fluffy's gums and condition.
I load Fluffy up and take her to Kathy to have her look at her to see if we can wait til the vet gets back from Eureka or need to call someone else. Kathy and her friend can't believe that Fluffy has survived - they state it looks like a horror movie. Kathy talks to the vet - we are going to wait - Fluffy is appearing okay - at times trying to scratch her neck and laying down - with her neck stretched out.
2 hours later - the vet is back in Lakeside - we all meet - 10 p.m. on a Friday night. The vet is in awe that Fluffy survived the wound - it appears to have missed her jugular and arteries - narrowly and they also say - it looks like a horror movie.
Now I am feeling like I should have Ryan with me - Fluffy is technically his dog and he would want to be with her. Fluffy's heart rate is low - they give her medicine for it - check her blood - all is good - she is sedated - then put under for surgery...to fix her wound. The surgery was to take about 45 minutes...
That was an hour and 1/2 ago...still waiting...
I FEEL TERRIBLE FOR FLUFFY...MY HEART IS SICK.
